Kendall Rucks may be young, but her mature vocals and raw, poetic lyrics make this "old soul" an up-and-comer to watch. Hailing from Stuart, Florida, at 13, Kendall was invited by her vocal coach and music mentor, Ron Anderson, to visit Los Angeles and meet advisors and mentors in the entertainment industry. There was no turning back after that. By 14, she was living in Los Angeles and working with the teen pop group Counting Dayz. As group members careers took different trajectories, Counting Dayz ultimately disbanded and Kendall decided to focus on a solo career.
After graduating from high school at 15, Kendall released her first original single “Bad Decision”. By 16, she had been awarded a Reverbnation crowd review Featured Artist spot for her original song “School’s Out.” This past summer, that song was the top vote getter for College Underground Radio's Summer Discover Contest and she recently signed her first international license deal for "School's Out."
Last October, her original song “Clementine” won her another crowd review featured artist spot and garnered her the attention of World Music Stage Radio's TOP 10 COUNTDOWN. "Clementine" was also selected amongst hundreds of submissions to be the featured song for season 2 of dancer and teen choice award winner, Chloe Lukasiak’s 12 episode video dance series “Dance With Chloe”.
This spring, Kendall will be releasing her latest single “Everybody’s Girl" - a sultry blues mix "about not settling for anything less than what you want ...too often, people settle...I don’t want to be that person.”
Kendall is a prolific writer and has a notebook stuffed with new songs just waiting to be brought to life. She currently lives and records in Los Angeles and has numerous projects in the works, as well as completed projects with such industry heavy hitters as 5x Grammy winner Brian Vibberts and Alex Houton which have not yet been released.
Her most exciting current project is the creation of her first album, set for summer 2018 release, with multi-platinum music producer/writer/musician Mike Krompass. In addition to her own songs, the new album features co-writes with industry legends such as Robbie Nevil, Andrew Fromm, Steve Diamond, Pam Sheyne, Greg Becker, Natalie Howard and Skip Black. “The music we are creating is everything I’ve always wanted to do – it’s deep, kinda dark and has an organic rock feel - most of all though, I think it's honest...for so long, I've been asked to fit into a box and now that I'm older, I feel more free to create and shed light on what truly inspires me. I don't always write about socially correct things or thoughts and I'm 1000% okay with that.” With artist inspirations such as Fiona Apple, Lana Del Rey, and Cat Power as well as groups like Nirvana, Radiohead and Garbage, Kendall makes music that is deep, thought-provoking and has soul with a sultry edge.
